My grandmother hated this commercial, and I never understood why until now. Nora used to say “Geez, you know, not all black women sound like that” and you know what? She was absolutely right.
She loved York peppermint patties but quickly gave them up after this commercial. My mom said I remind her a lot of her mother in that I question everything, and I don’t find humor in the way we are represented in the media.
Often we are depicted, and it is incredibly stereotypical but we are all different, and we are all awesome.
Why is it that we cant be ourselves? I’m sick of the exaggerated version of what people think African-American people are.
