Penn Medicine Welcomes An African American Scientist, And He Is The Epitome Of #BlackExcellence : Ishmail Abdus-Saboor
Ishmail Abdus-Saboor, Philadelphia Native and former Central High School graduate, is the epitome of Black Excellence.
This young man is already making tremendous strides and placing his mark at Penn Medicine.
He’s received much needed support through the government by receiving various federal grants to fund his protocols & research projects focusing on the nervous system.
I am so excited for the diversity in the research world; you don’t see too many Black scientist (you don’t see many being funded or heading their own research labs) this is just not common at all!
Have you ever met an African American scientist?
I’ve worked in the biomedical field at UPenn for the past eight years and NEVER met one. Not one.
I’m so excited for the diversity in this field and I look forward to the progression of Ishmail’s research. I’m really hoping to run into Ishmail soon…
So, here’s a big shout out to Ishmail as he beings his first semester at UPenn while establishing himself as a Scientist and heading his own research lab!!
Good luck to you, Ishmail, as you collaborate with and direct other researchers, create studies, and follow through with finding alternatives to eliminate pain. I can’t wait to see how you make an impact in developing a solution to the opioid epidemic.
