Suppressed Deity & Young Loud Proud’s presents: Sick, Lit & LOUD

“We have been on a journey from the age of 7, creating our own stories and characters. Being underrepresented as young girls of color, we began designing our own worlds where we were able to exist freely. Presently, we are still creating platforms for disenfranchised groups, proclaiming self-acceptance. Our most recent project, Sick & Lit, is an empowering series that pokes holes in the stereotypes surrounding race, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. Please join the movement by sharing & following the link in our bio to donate to our cause.” —Suppressed Deity, LLC.

A little bit of noise #SpeakUp

(A little bit of noise)

I am a light sleeper

I dream a lot

When I’m asleep and awake

Sometimes the best dreams aren’t happening when my eyes are closed

They’re happening as I’m up

Seeing and feeling

Loving and hating

My nightmares are not as frightening as they used to be

Not as scary as the thought of being stuck or lost in my head

With only my past thoughts as company

I want to learn how to be brave

Move on and let go

I want to sleep without being disturbed by only a little bit of noise

#SpeakUp: An Invincible Girl’s Podcast

#YLPtalk

My new Podcast “Speak Up: the podcast for invincible girls” (an extension of this blog Young Loud Proud) is coming soon (9.30.18).
I hoped you’ve missed me and more than ready to hear my voice. I think I make rambling on about social change sound really good LOL!
I originally created this blog site “Young Loud Proud (YLP)” as a resource tool for inspiration & motivation in the hopes of spreading POSITIVITY while dismembering stereotypes.
My goal(s) for this Podcast is to discuss various social issues that affect us girls and to also discuss solutions/thoughts on how to change the issues.
The idea is to extend this platform, have a series of informal chats with the overall theme of speaking up & becoming/remaining invincible.
Each guest is invited to voice their opinions, attempt to break stereotypes, provide clarity, etc. in their unique style to raise awareness; all in the hopes of encouraging and inspiring young women like myself to speak up and use their voices to do the same.
Invincible girl, please call into my Podcast to Speak Up and be heard!
If you are interested, please contact me with your availability:

“Good Girl” #SpeakUp

(An ode to good girls)

You think you’re a good girl

Good girl, who do you think you are?

You walk around smiling, always happy, you won’t get too far

See this is the “real world” niggas will eat you alive

You can’t stand tall before shrinking down to my size

You think you’re a good girl

Goodie two shoes, kinda girl

Conceited think you’re worth something kinda girl

Who told you to smile, wear your hair all wild?

Who said you could go to church on Sundays to praise your God

Good girl, you think you are

But I know the real you

Sneaky girl, you won’t get far

I know all about girls like you

I’ll play you real close

I’ll tell you I love you while I hate you

I know how to hurt you most

You act like a good girl

Good girl, you think you are

But if it’s up to me, I’ll make sure you’ll never fill the void in your heart

You’ll never learn to love yourself truly

You’ll never see those better days

I’m your negative thoughts, self-doubt, that inner hate.

If you’re not careful, I’ll be here to stay,

always.

The bootleg version of love #SpeakUp

(I’m trying to be)

I have nothing but my dad’s short temper, without any of my mother’s patience.

I’m a sight to see.

God loves me so much right?

So why is the concept of love so undefined?

Why is your love so absent?

Why is God the only one who loves me unconditionally?

I may have met God, I just wish at this moment I was more familiar so that I wouldn’t be mistaken

Every good thing I’ve ever felt in every moment that I wish I had the desire to take back I won’t or can’t

I’m too weak to

Maybe I’m too strong not to

I’m scared I’ll never find true love because I’ve stolen others’.

I fear that karma will always have me on the outside looking in.

Never the real experience.

The bootlegged version of love.

Blind or blinded #SpeakUp

(Blind or Blinded)

I’m blinding by the rays of your love

Confused by the way that you love

You like to play with our love

Got me asking what the hell is love?

You lie to me as I look past you, right past myself and stare into the sunlight

At this moment everything finally feels alright

I look back to you just to see myself

A distorted picture in a reflection of a distant mirror

How much more time can I waste missing you?

I’m blinded by the rays of your love

Relay, I’m on constant go for your love

Confused by your ways, my love

Stop playing with my love

Have them wondering how I’m living so fly without you beloved.

As you lie to me as I look past you, right past myself and stare into the sunlight

Right at this moment everything finally feels just right

I’ll blow this L and think of you

When it’s over, it’ll be no more me and you

Learn how to walk what you talk

For now, no more us, no more linking Parks
